Victoria only state to have fewer jobs on offer

Liberal Party Victoria

Victorians are suffering the economic consequences of Labor's second wave, with the number of job ads falling in December. Not surprisingly, because they didn't experience a second wave, they rose everywhere else in Australia.

According to data released today through the Commonwealth Government's Labour Market Information Portal, job ads in Victoria fell by 1,100 or 2.7 per cent in December, while they rose in every other state and territory in Australia.

This fall in job ads in Victoria contrasts with an overall rise in job ads in Australia in December of 1.4 per cent.

Job ads in Victoria in 2020 only rose by 2 per cent, compared with the national increase for 2020 of 11.1 per cent.

As stated by Shadow Treasurer, Louise Staley:

"The economic recovery from the pandemic has started in the rest of Australia, yet due to Labor's incompetence and inaction, Victorians looking for work are still suffering.

"These figures clearly show that Labor isn't working for Victorians.

"Victoria is so far behind other states and territories. They have only the Andrews Labor Government to blame for the dismal state of our economy and jobs situation.

"Only the Liberal Nationals have a plan to make local economic recovery a priority and get Victorians back to work and back in business."
