Cricket Victoria has announced the Victoria Metro and Victoria Country squads set to compete at the upcoming Cricket Australia Under-19 National Championships, taking place in Perth from 1st – 8th December.
The Championships will see Australia's most promising young cricketers go head-to-head, representing their states and territories in one of the key stepping stones on the pathway to professional and national selection.
Victoria Metro will be coached by Travis Dean, Cricket Victoria Talent Development Specialist and former Victorian player and captain. Victoria Country will be led by James Miller, CV Talent Development Specialist and former Premier Cricket Ryder Medallist.
The Victorian Metro squad includes Alex Turner (Prahran), Aryan Sharma (Carlton) and Tom Paddington (St Kilda), all of whom recently represented Australia U19 in the home series against India U19s in Queensland.
The Victorian Country squad features a strong returning group from last year's Championships, bringing valuable experience to this year's campaign.
Oliver Peake (Geelong) will not feature in this year's competition due to his senior Victorian commitments.
Cricket Victoria's Talent Development Manager, Tom Evans, said the Championships are a key opportunity for players to test themselves at the national level and continue developing within the state pathway system.
"We're extremely proud of the depth of young talent coming through our pathway programs," Evans said.
"Many of these players have already performed at Premier and pathway level, and the National Championships give them a great chance to further develop in a high-performance environment."
The squads will depart for Perth late November, with matches to be played across premier venues in Western Australia.
