Victoria names Colts squad for four-day clash with New South Wales

Cricket Victoria has announced its Victorian Colts squad to face New South Wales in a four-day fixture at Windy Hill from December 1-4.

The Colts program, designed for players 23 and under, provides emerging Victorian talent with high-quality red-ball opportunities against equivalent interstate opposition. This year's squad has been selected with a strong focus on Premier Cricket performance, rewarding players who have impressed during the early stages of the season.

Victorian-contracted batter Liam Blackford, who recently top-scored for the CA XI against the England Lions, has been named captain. The clash will offer another valuable opportunity for Blackford as he continues his progression through Victoria's talent pathway.

Selectors were unable to consider U19 representatives due to their departure for the National Championships in Perth on Sunday.

Head of Male Cricket, David Hussey, said the fixture was an important step in preparing the next generation of first-class cricketers.

"This match gives our emerging players a chance to test themselves in a high-performance environment and continue developing their skills NS habits required at the first class level," Hussey said.
