Colac Otway Shire Council, Geelong Regional Libraries and Colac Secondary College recently worked together on the upgrade of the meeting rooms at the Colac Library, which are now equipped for video conferencing.

All five meeting rooms are equipped with the technology to allow video conferencing and cater to groups from eight to 25. Room configurations are flexible, with the possibility of joining rooms to cater for larger groups. Meeting rooms are available with affordable daily or hourly rates, and discounts are available for community groups and not for profit groups.

Colac Otway Shire Mayor Chris Potter said, "Council is proud to have worked with the Colac Secondary College and the Geelong Regional Library Corporation to upgrade the library meeting rooms to enable video conferencing at the Colac Library."

"Whether you're a local club holding an in-person and online AGM or a business that wants to conduct job interviews at an offsite location, I encourage you to consider the library meeting rooms," Cr Potter said.

Council's representative on the board of the Geelong Regional Library Corporation Cr Stephen Hart said, "Our libraries are a wonderful community resource, the upgrade to the meeting rooms provides even more flexibility and opportunities for people to make use of the facilities.

"The library meeting rooms are great community spaces that can be hired by individuals, community groups or businesses, and the video conferencing equipment has really improved their appeal and functionality.

"Video conferencing is such a big part of our work and home lives now with technology supporting us all to stay connected and safe at the same time," Cr Hart said.

Geelong Regional Libraries CEO Vanessa Schernickau said, "It was great to work with Council and Colac Secondary College to upgrade the meeting rooms to include video conferencing, ensuring they meet the modern needs of hybrid workforces - and community groups.

"We've gone beyond the idea of going back to 'normal' working arrangements, hybrid meetings and catch ups will continue to be part of our future," she said.
