This week is National Volunteer Week - a time to celebrate the people who quietly give so much to our community.
One of those people is Rick Watt, Council's Building Maintenance Assets and Facilities Officer, whose long-running contribution to local cricket has helped shape opportunities for young players across East Gippsland.
Rick has coached juniors at the Lucknow Cricket Club for around 10 years and has also served as the club's junior coordinator for the past few years. During that time, Lucknow has won four of the past five Under 16 premierships - a reflection of the strong junior culture built by volunteers like Rick.

Beyond the club level, Rick has also volunteered with the Bairnsdale Cricket Association as a committee member, junior Gippsland Cricket League, as Gippsland Cricket League coordinator and representative junior coach for around six years - and he's still actively involved today.
Council thanks Rick, and all of the volunteers who help keep our towns, clubs and community groups thriving.
East Gippsland is proud to celebrate volunteers through the East Gippsland Volunteer Honour Roll, which recognises the outstanding contribution volunteers make across our shire. Nominations for the Honour Roll are open year-round.
