Voting now open for Pro Bono Australia's 2021 Impact 25 Awards
Voting has opened for Pro Bono Australia's 2021 Impact 25 Awards, allowing people to choose who they think have been the social sector's most influential leaders.
From more than 400 nominations, 150 people have been shortlisted for their efforts creating positive change amid the turbulent events of the past 12 months.
Karen Mahlab AM, Pro Bono Australia founder and CEO, urged people to vote and recognise those doing great work in society.
"Over the past six years, the Impact 25 Awards have done what they first intended to do: showcase a steady stream of individuals, largely unnamed and largely unacknowledged working in our communities," Mahlab said.
"Over 400 nominees were put forward for the awards this year – our highest ever. It's now back to all of us to vote and show our appreciation for their great work."
People can vote for up to three changemakers who they believe have had the biggest impact in the last year.
The 25 nominees with the most votes will be crowned the Impact 25 Award winners. From this 25, a panel of judges will also choose a winner in each of the following three categories: Innovator, Influencer, and Collaborator.
Previous winners include anti-domestic violence campaigner Rosie Batty AO, Justice Connect chair Professor Gillian Triggs, esteemed humanitarian lawyer Julian Burnside AO QC, and OzHarvest CEO Ronni Kahn AO.
Last year's awards saw more than 28,000 votes cast for the 150 final nominees.
Voting closes on 10 February, with the winners announced on 25 March.
