WA father and daughter located and being evacuated from national park

A Western Australian father and daughter have been located by a police search and rescue party near Pelion Hut in the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park a short time ago.

The pair were both located safe and well about 1km south from Pelion Hut by a police search and rescue team.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter had attempted to winch the pair out but was forced to land at Pelion Hut due to bad weather.

Police and a paramedic then walked in from Pelion Hut to where the pair were located. The party is now walking out, where the Westpac Rescue Helicopter will transport them to the visitors centre.

Four huts in the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park have been checked so far and there are no concerns for welfare for any bushwalkers encountered so far.
