Western Australian real estate excellence was on full display last week with five WA winners at the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA)'s 2025 National Awards for Excellence (NAFE).
Ray White Dethridge Groves Director Hayden Groves received the prestigious REIA President's Award in recognition of his decades of service to the real estate industry, both in WA and nationally.
In the individual categories, Sam Harris of Centurion Real Estate took home the Achievement Award, while Vaughan Copping from Perth Property Management was named Commercial Property Manager of the Year.
Two WA agencies were successful in the agency categories. The Residential Property Management Team of the Year award went to Blackburne Property Management and Realestate 88 were recognised as the Residential Sales Team of the Year.
REIWA President Suzanne Brown said the strong result reflected the level of skill, commitment and professionalism in WA's real estate industry.
"These awards celebrate more than just sales or the size of rent rolls – they recognise those who have set the standard for professional practice across the country," she said.
"REIWA is incredibly proud of our members who have been recognised on the national stage.
"To have five WA winners across such a broad range of categories is an outstanding result."
Hayden Groves was awarded the REIA President's Award for his leadership in shaping government policy and promotion of high standards across the industry at both the state and national level.
"Hayden is a passionate advocate for our industry, having represented the concerns of the industry to government and in the media throughout his terms as president of REIA and REIWA," Ms Brown said.
"Having served alongside Hayden on REIWA Council, I've seen his integrity, work ethic and deep care for the industry firsthand. I couldn't think of anyone more deserving of this award."
The Achievement Award acknowledges excellence amongst newcomers to the real estate industry. Sam Harris was recognised for his strong start to a career in property management.
"Sam's achievements in such a short time are outstanding. He stepped into property management with no experience, at one of the most challenging times in the industry, and has delivered consistent results with compassion and professionalism," Ms Brown said.
"He's not only supported clients through complex and emotional challenges, he's also helped his team and agency improve their processes. Sam is a great example of the value early-career professionals can bring to our industry."
Vaughan Copping earned the title of Commercial Property Manager of the Year for delivering strong results across a complex portfolio and supporting the next generation of commercial property managers.
"Vaughan's results speak for themselves – he's delivered strong outcomes for his clients by thinking strategically and acting decisively," Ms Brown said.
"His commitment to supporting the development of emerging commercial property professionals, sharing his knowledge and setting others up for success, is equally impressive."
Blackburne Property Management were named Residential Property Management Team of the Year in recognition of their outstanding achievements and commitment to team development.
"Blackburne's impressive growth over the past year is a testament to their focus and drive as a team," Ms Brown said.
"They've built a strong, supportive culture that develops talent, delivers results and brings out the best in their people."
The Residential Sales Team of the Year award acknowledged Realestate 88's delivery of record-breaking results and high level of service across Perth's inner-city market.
"Last year was a difficult year for the Realestate 88 team, with the loss of their director and leader, Peter Wright, and their ability to support each other while delivering outstanding results is to be admired. Jasmyn has done an amazing job leading her team during an incredibly challenging time" Ms Brown said.
"They continued to serve their clients with professionalism and care, and this award is a fitting recognition of their efforts."
