Minister for Education and the Arts The Honourable John-Paul Langbroek
  • The Crisafulli Government has delivered a landmark EBA offer to Queensland teacher aides and school cleaners.
  • Both certified agreements have been accepted in-principle by the United Workers' Union, subject to member ballots.
  • Reaching in-principle agreements at this time means wage increases for cleaners and teacher aides will be back dated to 1 November 2025.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering a landmark EBA offer which will see Queensland teacher aides and school cleaners benefit from higher wages, better workplace conditions and additional incentives.

The United Workers' Union (UWU) has accepted both EBA offers in-principle, which are now subject to member ballots.

If accepted by Union members during the ballot, the offers will then go to a full ballot of all teacher aides and cleaners in early 2026.

Wage increases for teacher aides and school cleaners will be backdated to 1 November 2025, if the EBA offers are accepted.

The landmark EBA offer for teacher aides includes:

  • Guaranteed wage increases of 8% over the three-year agreement.
  • A CPI Adjustment Payment of up to 10.5%.
  • Improvements to the Educational Support for Students with Disability Allowance (e.g. increased allowance for teacher aides and indexed to rise with future increases).
  • More time in lieu for attending overnight school camps.
  • Trial of a new allowance for administering medication.
  • Simplified process for teacher aides to secure additional hours.

The landmark EBA offer for school cleaners includes:

  • Guaranteed wage increases of 8% over the three-year agreement.
  • A CPI Adjustment Payment of up to 10.5%.
  • Increase to the Experienced Cleaners' Allowance (indexed to rise with future salary increases).
  • Continued funding for training course and education.
  • Paid time off or time in-lieu for cleaners attending training and education.

Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek said the State's more than 20,000 teacher aides and 7000 cleaners are strongly valued and greatly appreciated.

"The Crisafulli Government is delivering a landmark agreement that will see our teacher aides and school cleaners earn more than ever before, while workplace conditions improve," Minister Langbroek said.

"The offers highlights the government's ongoing commitment to addressing the feedback provided by the UWU and its members – I want to thank them for their contribution.

"EBA negotiations take a significant effort and both parties have dedicated themselves to the bargaining negotiations to get the best possible outcome for members.

"We greatly value our hardworking teacher aides and cleaners and thank them for the hard work and dedication they bring to their roles each day."
