Wagga Wagga Gears Up for 2025 Christmas Festivities

Wagga Wagga's festive season has officially begun with Wagga Wagga City Council rolling out its Christmas 2025 program across the CBD including a new display in the Wollundry Lagoon precinct.

From Monday 1 December 2025 to Monday 5 January 2026, Baylis and Fitzmaurice Streets will be transformed with a vibrant suite of decorations designed to create a welcoming, distinctly local atmosphere for residents and visitors to our river city.

The display includes 80 Christmas-themed pole decorations, Wagga Wagga Christmas-branded tree guards, bin covers, flags and parklets, as well as the traditional Christmas nativity set up in the Civic Centre.

FESTIVE The installation is located out front of the Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre in the Wollundry Precinct.

Events Officer Emma Corbett said the program balances much-loved favourites with eye-catching new elements.

"Our Christmas decorations are all about creating a warm, joyful experience in the heart of the city," Ms Corbett said.

"They're designed to create playful, engaging spaces for people to slow down, soak up the atmosphere, and spend time in the heart of Wagga Wagga this holiday season."

Existing festive lighting will add to the festive atmosphere, including the illuminated Cypress Pine in the Victory Memorial Gardens, fairy lights at pedestrian crossings in Baylis Street, lighting features along Fitzmaurice Street and at the Civic Centre forecourt.

A new feature for 2025 is the introduction of large-scale lighting installations at the Wollundry Lagoon precinct.

Nine illuminated elements – including a four-metre gingerbread house, a Wagga-themed Santa sleigh, neon archway, wreath and Christmas tree – invite further opportunity for exploration throughout the festive period.

"This year's Wollundry Lagoon installations are designed to delight all ages and create great moments to share," Ms Corbett said.

"We encourage the community to visit this beautiful part of the city and come down with the family to the foreshore area to enjoy a summer evening or two making memories in one of Wagga Wagga's most stunning spaces."

Adding to the festivities, A Very Wagga Wagga Giftmas returns following its strong success in 2023 and 2024.

Two women pose smiling side by side in the shade of a fairy-light-wrapped gingerbread house installation. The photo is taken in daylight on grass, with a lagoon, bridge, pathway and surrounding trees visible in the background.
WATERSIDE WONDERLAND Events & Visitor Economy Officer Stacey Post and Destination & Events Coordinator Cassandra Farquharson share the shade inside the sweet gingerbread house installation, now sparkling nightly beside Wollundry Lagoon.

The digital advent calendar on the Visit Wagga Wagga website will showcase daily prizes from local businesses throughout early December.

"A Very Wagga Wagga Giftmas is about celebrating our local businesses and reminding people how special and important shopping local can be at Christmas," Ms Corbett said.

The community is encouraged to enter to win a prize online via www.visitwagga.com/christmas and enjoy a festive season that is proudly A Very Wagga Wagga Christmas.
