Walls of Jerusalem National Park infrastructure upgrades

Mark Shelton,Liberal Member for Lyons

The visitor experience at the popular Walls of Jerusalem National Park will be greatly improved with the upgrade of infrastructure currently underway.

The Tasmanian Government has provided funding under the Tourism Infrastructure in Parks program aimed at better catering for the increasing number of visitors while contributing to more sustainable management practices in parks and reserves.

The project involves the upgrade of carpark facilities including a toilet block and new walker registration booth at the track head in the park.

The works are planned to be completed before the end of the financial year. Construction is taking place in two stages so that walkers will not be inconvenienced and closures will not be necessary.

The Walls of Jerusalem National Park has experienced significant growth as have many other national parks around Tasmania over the last few years. This investment will increase the parking capacity to 50 vehicles with three additional areas for tour company mini buses with trailers. An environmentally sustainable total capture toilet at this location will greatly enhance the experience for visitors to this iconic location.
