Wanted Man Faces Charges for Domestic Assault in Barrier

A man wanted on outstanding arrest warrants - will face court today charged with domestic violence offences in the state's far west.

Just after 2am (Wednesday 8 November 2023), officers attached to Barrier Police District attended a home in Creedon Street, Broken Hill, following reports of a domestic-related incident.

A 21-year-old woman had allegedly been assaulted, struck to the head and body several times with a torch and a tool by a man, known to her.

The woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before she was transported to Broken Hill Hospital in a stable condition.

As part of inquiries, officers attended a nearby home on Creedon Street and found a man hiding under a bed.

Following a struggle, the 18-year-old man he was arrested and taken to Broken Hill Police Station.

He was charged with:

  • contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO
  • hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
  • use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence
  • assault occasioning actual bodily harm and,
  • breach of bail.

Police also executed seven outstanding arrest warrants for traffic, property, assault, domestic violence-related offences.

The man was refused bail to appear at Wentworth Local Court today (Wednesday 8 November 2023).
