Wanted Victorian man charged over South Melbourne murder

NSW Police Force Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a man with an interstate warrant for murder.

Acting on information, officers from the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit, attended a unit on Amalfi Drive at Wentworth Point just before 11pm yesterday (Wednesday 13 May 2020).

Following negotiations and a brief physical altercation, a 33-year-old man was arrested about 12.15am today (Thursday 14 May 2020).

The Victorian man was taken to Concord Hospital for treatment to minor injuries before being taken to Burwood Police Station.

He has been charged with apprehension on warrant issued in another state.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court via AVL today.

Homicide detectives from Victoria Police are expected to travel to NSW where they will apply for the man's extradition.
