Warburton Tree update

Warburton-Tree.PNG

You might have noticed some activity on site around the tree at the Warburton Recreation Reserve carpark over the past few days. Work is continuing to make the site safe in preparation for some safety works that Council must complete to reduce the risk level of the tree.

An assessment of the tree's hollows will be conducted this week with infrared cameras to understand the number of fauna currently using the tree. This information will be used to determine the best way to undertake safety works for habitat retention.

Completion of the initial safety works will enable Council to make a proper assessment of the remaining tree to determine opportunities to retain it for habitat, while also ensuring public safety can be achieved.

Council stands by its commitment not to conduct works beyond critical safety works until all options to retain habitat have been properly considered.
