Grassroots motorsport clubs across Western Australia are set to benefit from improved first aid facilities, with the first upgrade now complete at the Midwest Kart Club in Geraldton.
The $100,000 upgrade is the first of 13 projects being delivered through a $1.3 million 2025 election commitment to improve first aid infrastructure at karting clubs across the State.
The new facilities will give clubs dedicated spaces to provide first aid during training, competitions and other club activities, supporting safer environments for competitors, volunteers and spectators.
A total of $800,000 is being delivered in partnership with Karting WA for first aid facilities at clubs in Kalgoorlie, Exmouth, Port Hedland, Tom Price, Bunbury, Esperance, Lake King and Cockburn.
A further $500,000 has been committed directly to Albany City Kart Club, Hurricane Go Kart Club, Karratha Kart Club, Midwest Kart Club and Tiger Kart Club Wanneroo to deliver their own upgrades.
The investment will help clubs provide modern, fit-for-purpose facilities while supporting the thousands of Western Australians who participate in grassroots motorsport.
The projects form part of the Cook Labor Government's PlayOn WA initiative, which is delivering 2,030 new and upgraded community sport and recreation infrastructure items across WA by 2030.
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:
"Motorsport is hugely popular across Western Australia, particularly in our regions.
"We want to make sure local clubs have the facilities they need to operate safely.
"It's great to see the first of these new first aid facilities now complete in Geraldton, with more upgrades to roll out at karting clubs across the State."
