About 5.10am, a white Toyota Hilux utility was travelling on Ennis Ave - just south of the intersection with Safety Bay Road - when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree.
The driver and sole occupant - a man believed to be in his 50s - sustained critical injuries in the crash and died at the scene.
