WA's move to reopen sensible, welcome step

Western Australia has today taken a sensible decision to reopen its border in 12 days, joining the rest of the country in living alongside COVID, Business Council of Australia chief executive Jennifer Westacott said.

"This is a good decision which will be incredibly welcome news for so many families and friends who have spent months separated from loved ones.

"We urge the McGowan Government to remain committed to its revised reopening date of March 3 so people, families and businesses of all sizes have the confidence to plan and get on with their lives and operations.

"Ending border closures across the country is a critical step in maintain the momentum of Australia's recovery, ensuring we can attract people, ideas and investment back to our shores.

"With all states and territories now moving to reopen their borders, it is more important than ever that we have consistent and easy to navigate rules across the country.''
