MODERATE FLOODING EASING AT NITMILUK CENTRE
Moderate flooding is easing along the Katherine River between Nitmiluk Centre and Katherine Bridge. A peak just above the major flood level was recorded at Katherine Bridge on Thursday morning, approximately 1.60 m lower than the major flood peak recorded earlier this month. The river level at Katherine Bridge is likely to fall below the moderate flood level overnight Thursday into Friday.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days, however significant rainfall and significant renewed river level rises are not expected. The situation will be closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
Katherine River Gorge Road:
Moderate flooding is easing along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at 5.60 m and falling, with moderate flooding. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is expected to fall below the moderate flood level (5.50 m) Thursday afternoon. The river may fall below the minor flood level (3.00 m) Friday evening.
Katherine Town:
Moderate flooding is easing along the Katherine River at Katherine Town.
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge peaked at 17.58 m around 8:15 am Thursday, with major flooding. The river is currently at 17.39 m and falling slowly, with moderate flooding. The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is likely to fall below the moderate flood level (16.50 m) overnight Thursday into Friday. The river may fall below the minor flood level (16.00 m) Friday morning.
