Council's water infrastructure in Gunnedah and the surrounding villages will be assessed for unseen leaks under funding from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). Work will start on Wednesday, March 11 and is expected to take four weeks to complete. Personnel will not enter private properties.
Council will receive a detailed report identifying all leaks, including any leaks found on property service lines. Property owners with service line leaks will be notified within a week of receiving the report so they can arrange repairs. Council has committed to repairing all Council-owned leaks by the end of the financial year.
There may be disruptions to water services when repairs are carried out, but advance notice will be given.
