Weapons seized following Skye intercept

Police have seized a number of items including a sword following an intercept in Skye this morning, Victoria Police say.

Members from Carrum Downs and Somerville Highway Patrol intercepted a vehicle in the drive through of a fast food restaurant at the corner of Hall Road and Westernport Highway just before 3.45am.

Police had seen a sword in the boot of the vehicle and subsequently performed a full search of the car.

A tomahawk was also located in the vehicle.

The driver, a 27-year-old Pearcedale man, then underwent a preliminary oral fluid test (POFT) and returned a positive result.

He is expected to be charged on summons with weapons offences and police will await the outcome of forensic testing of the POFT.

His passenger, a 17-year-old Oakleigh South girl, was also arrested in relation to outstanding warrants.

She was bailed to appear at a children’s court on 8 August.
