Weekend Deliveries Are Back To Sleigh Holiday Rush

Australia Post

With online shopping expected to surge in the lead up to Christmas, customers can look forward to receiving their parcel any day of the week with Australia Post reintroducing temporary weekend deliveries this Saturday.

The weekend delivery service will be available in all metro capitals and select regional cities and towns, offering added flexibility for customers and helping ensure timely arrival of parcels during the festive season. Weekend deliveries will remain in place until Christmas, depending on volumes.

Australia Post Executive General Manager Parcel, Post and eCommerce Services, Gary Starr highlighted the additional service of Saturday and Sunday deliveries in helping ensure customers receive their parcels on time.

"With Black Friday and Cyber Monday just around the corner, we're expecting to see a significant spike in parcel volumes and online spending activity. In preparation, we've brought on thousands of additional team members and expanded our delivery options - including more self-service Parcel Lockers and extended Post Office trading hours - to make collecting parcels easier than ever.

"Last year we delivered nearly 103 million parcels over the Black Friday sales period, and we're ready to go even bigger this holiday season. Weekend deliveries are just one of the ways Australia Post is stepping up to support our customers during the busiest time of the year," Mr. Starr said.

Australia Post has recently announced the opening of several next-generation parcel-focused Post Offices in metro locations across NSW, VIC, QLD and ACT, featuring 24/7 self-serve options and secure, free Parcel Lockers. In addition, Australia Post has continued to expand the locations of its popular self-service parcel lockers providing even more convenient delivery options for customers.

Australia Post is encouraging shoppers to download the Australia Post app to keep up to date with deliveries, providing trusted, accurate and legitimate delivery notifications.

To ensure items arrive by Christmas, parcels should be sent by Monday 22 December for same state deliveries and Friday 19 December for interstate deliveries, or if sending via Express Post, by Tuesday 23 December. People sending to or from Western Australia, Northern Territory, Tasmania, or regional and remote locations, should allow a few extra days.
