Tianjin, People's Republic of China, 17 June 2025 -The World Economic Forum will convene the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin, People's Republic of China, from 24 to 26 June 2025. Held under the theme "Entrepreneurship for a New Era", the Meeting will bring together over 1,700 participants from over 90 countries, including leaders from business, government, civil society, international organizations, media and academia, to share insights and drive action on shared challenges.
Amid a rapidly evolving economic landscape marked by geo-economic uncertainty and technological disruption, the programme will examine how entrepreneurship and emerging technologies can help unlock new levers of global growth. As a key gathering of leading innovators, the meeting will explore concrete strategies for scaling transformative technologies, advancing innovative business models and forging new partnerships. The Meeting will also spotlight key emerging markets, with a particular focus on China and Asia at large.

The Meeting will be hosted by the People's Republic of China. More than 144 senior political leaders, from around 30 countries and regions will participate, including 40 cabinet ministers. 14 global leaders from government and the private sector will co-chair the event: Faisal Alibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning, Saudi Arabia; Noor Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board; Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation of Egypt; Hussain J. The programme will be shaped around five key pillars:
- Deciphering the World Economy - Global growth is at a crossroads, projected at a relatively soft 2.8% for 2025 and 3% 2026 , significantly below the historical average. With shifting trade patterns and a slowdown in productivity, participants will examine how innovation and entrepreneurship can unlock new growth areas and serve as the engines of the global economy.
- Outlook on China - As China reorients its economic model to capitalize on technological advancements and upgrade its industries, the meeting will assess the potential impact of this technology-led approach, and which key sectors are poised to drive it.
- Industries Disrupted - Amid a rapidly changing landscape, with technological, geopolitical, and environmental factors driving transformation, global private sector spending on technology is expected to reach $5.6 trillion in 2025. Discussions will consider how industries can develop the agility needed to adapt and embed resilience as they evolve.
- Investing in People and Planet - The world remains on track to meet less than one-fifth of the SDG goals, despite progress in areas such as scaling up finance for climate action. The meeting will explore how cross-sector and multistakeholder partnerships can accelerate tangible impact for both people and planet.
- New Energy and Materials - As the momentum around renewable energy capacity and energy efficiency accelerates, rising electricity demand driven by technological growth is straining current power systems. Participants will consider strategies to ensure a more secure, stable, and sustainable supply of the energy resources and critical materials needed to fuel new growth and competitiveness.
