Welcoming Tasmania Police's newest recruits

Mark Shelton,Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management

Tasmania Police numbers have been bolstered with 22 new Constables graduating today as part of the Government's commitment to keeping Tasmanians safe.

The newest officers include 11 women and 11 men who will soon be dispersed across the state with 5 at Hobart, 1 at Bridgewater, 12 at Launceston, 1 at Burnie and 3 at Devonport.

I would like to congratulate and officially welcome these newest recruits, who are ready to put their comprehensive and rigorous training into action by serving and protecting their communities from next week.

The Tasmanian Government is continuing to deliver our commitment to recruit an additional 125 new front line officers over four years to make Tasmania a safer place to live.

Recruiting is ongoing for the next scheduled courses and I would urge anyone who is considering a rewarding career in policing to visit the Tasmanian Police website.
