Wellness Center Offers Self-Improvement Programs for UW Community

A new spring schedule of programs to promote wellness is offered through the Wellness Center, located in the University of Wyoming's Half Acre Recreation facility.

The Wellness Center aims to create and support a culture of health and wellness at UW. The spring 2020 schedule of offerings can be found here.

Programs include listings for general wellness, stress management and mental wellness.

"Research is clear that there is a connection among well-being, happiness, and academic and professional success," says Lena Newlin, the Wellness Center's assistant director. "Whether you are looking to improve your physical, emotional, social or general well-being, we have something for everyone."

Among the Wellness Center's popular programs are the Big Sky Mindfulness Stress Management Workshop series, "Kitty Cuddle" times and health assessments and screenings. Self-Love and Happiness Workshops also are offered, which focus on gaining skills for self-compassion and happiness.

The Wellness Center is located in the southwest corner of the Half Acre Recreation building. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. during the semester.

"No gym membership is required to access the Wellness Center," Newlin says. "We are open to UW students, faculty and staff, and are committed to improving the health and well-being of the UW community."
