Western Australia Covid update as at 2 September 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 1,200 new cases to 4pm last night. There are currently 6,661 active cases in Western Australia.

The latest figures from overnight show, there were 215 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 6 in ICU.

Sadly, today's report includes 13 deaths, dating back to 12 June, which was reported to WA Health yesterday – a woman in her 100s, four women and a man in their 90s, four women and two men in their 80s and a man in his 70s.

Of the 1,200 cases, 412 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 788 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 2,740 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 1,131,952 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
