Western Australia Covid update as at 27 August 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 1,165 new cases to 4pm last night. There are currently 8,198 active cases in Western Australia.

Latest figures from overnight show, there were 223 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 7 in ICU.

Sadly, today's report includes four deaths, dating back to 20 August, which were reported to WA Health yesterday – a man in his 90s, a woman in her 80s, and two men in their 70s.

Of the 1,165 cases, 399 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 766 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 2,747 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 1,124,943 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
