Applications opened today for emerging and mid-career filmmakers to access grants to make short films bringing stories from the State Library of Western Australia to life.
WA Reflections - Our History Rediscovered is a capacity building program for Western Australian filmmakers to produce short documentary films.
Filmmakers will creatively respond to diaries, journals, letters and oral histories from the State Library's collections.
The McGowan Government is contributing $60,000 to the initiative.
The partnership between the State Library and Screenwest is the first of its kind for the two organisations who have a similar purpose to share our unique Western Australian culture and stories with the world.

As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:
"It is a purpose of both the State Library and Screenwest to share Western Australian stories and this initiative is an innovative way to achieve this.
"It is another example of the McGowan Government responding to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and I am particularly happy that our young Western Australian filmmakers are being supported during these challenging times."
