From new community facilities and safer walking routes to coastal protection and smart technology upgrades, a number of projects are underway across the Cairns region.
While some works may result in temporary disruptions, the projects are designed to deliver long-term benefits for local communities.
Woree
One of the region's largest community upgrades is underway at Jeff Pezzutti Park.
The project will deliver a new skate park, full-size multi-court, upgraded playground and modern amenities building with accessible facilities, creating a major recreation hub for local families, young people and sporting groups.

Manoora, Whitfield, Babinda, Bellenden Ker, Mirriwinni, Aloomba and Gordonvale
Thousands of households are set to receive smart water meters as part of a region-wide upgrade program.
The new technology will replace existing mechanical meters and provide more accurate water-use information, helping residents better understand and manage household consumption.
Smithfield, Earlville, Machans Beach and Edge Hill
Several popular parks and public spaces are receiving facility upgrades.
Works include public toilet upgrades at Tom Dooley Park in Smithfield, Lion's Park in Earlville and Machans Beach, while a new amenities block is being constructed in Edge Hill.

Caravonica, Manunda and Cairns North
New bus stop infrastructure and upgrades along Lake Placid Road in Caravonica will improve access to public transport, while nearby footpath renewal works will make walking routes safer and more accessible.
Footpath upgrades are also underway in Manunda and Cairns North, improving connectivity for pedestrians.
Cairns North
Works are underway along the Cairns North foreshore to extend the existing rock wall and help protect the coastline from erosion.
The project will help safeguard this popular waterfront area for residents and visitors into the future.

Gordonvale, Deeral, East Russell and Woopen Creek
Road rehabilitation, drainage improvements and road stabilisation works are underway across a number of southern suburbs and rural communities.
These projects will improve safety, resilience and reliability for motorists, particularly during the wet season.
Planning for a growing region
The works form part of an ongoing program of infrastructure investment across the Cairns region, supporting growing communities while maintaining and improving essential services, public spaces and transport connections.
