Whereabouts Of Driver Unknown After Seabrook Crash

The whereabouts of driver remains unknown after the stolen car he was driving was split in two following a crash in Seabrook this morning.

Emergency services were called to the Point Cook Road scene after calls to Triple Zero (000) reported a car had crashed into a tree and split in two about 1am.

Police believe the vehicle was travelling at speed before it negotiated a roundabout, struck a gutter and crashed into a tree.

The 2011 Toyota Kluger was left totally destroyed and the drivers whereabouts unknown.

Officers hold serious concerns for the welfare of the driver, who is believed to be a young man.

A thorough search of the vehicle and the immediate area surrounding the crash has failed to find the driver who police suspect would be injured.

The Kluger is believed to have been stolen about five minutes prior the crash in a carjacking at Laverton railway station.

Protective Service Officers patrolling the area raised the alarm after a man reported he had been pulled from his vehicle by a male, who then sped from the scene.

Police are appealing for the driver to come forward.

Transit Crime Investigate Unit detectives are investigating circumstances surrounding the carjacking and subsequent crash.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or with dashcam is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
