We've planted a staggering 3,654 new street trees across Whitehorse in 2025, solidifying our position as the number one metropolitan Melbourne council for street tree planting. That's thousands of new leafy additions transforming our neighbourhoods into greener, cooler, more beautiful places to call home.
These carefully selected trees, planted in nature strips and median strips along our roadways, are working around the clock to shade our streets and footpaths from scorching summer heat, cool our neighbourhoods, improve air quality, make our suburbs more liveable and enjoyable for everyone, and create thriving habitats for local wildlife.
Every planting season from April to October, our teams carefully select and plant semi-mature trees, based on local growing conditions and our Urban Forest Strategy. Each new tree receives dedicated watering and maintenance during its critical establishment period, giving it the best chance to flourish for generations.
