Why humanity needs arts

Vice-Chancellor's latest blog: Why humanity needs the arts

In Vice-Chancellor Professor Simone Buitendijk's latest blog, she sets out why the arts and humanities are vitally important in higher education - and all of our lives.

"I don't want to choose between arts and humanities on the one hand, and science and technology on the other," she writes. "Not as a university leader and not as a person. I believe we need both fields, and we need the interaction between them.

"We'd do well to remember that during the current debate about arts funding in higher education."
