Wiley, University of Macau Ink Deal to Boost Open Access Research

HOBOKEN, N.J. - February 8, 2024 - Wiley, one of the world's largest publishers and a global leader in research and learning, today announced a new 3-year open access agreement with the University of Macau, beginning on January 1, 2024.

This represents the first open access agreement between a Macau institution and Wiley. It will provide University of Macau scholars with reading access to Wiley's journal portfolio and enable researchers to publish open access in Wiley's complete portfolio of nearly 2,000 hybrid and fully gold open access journals.

"The UM Library is committed to supporting open access publishing and promoting open scholarship, which is a key to cost effective practices and a sustainable future for quality academic publishing," said Dr. Jianzhong Wu, University Librarian, The University of Macau.

"Increasing access to open access publishing continues to be a priority for Wiley and we are extremely pleased to be able to partner with University of Macau to make open publishing routes more accessible for academics in Macau," said Kathryn Sharples, Vice President, Open Research, Wiley.

Wiley has strong momentum in advancing open access partnerships, having signed more than 80 agreements around the globe, including with institutions across APAC.
