Wilful damage charge at Edmonton, QLD

Police have charged a man after a large number of graves at Edmonton Lawn Cemetery were damaged, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged the lawn graves and plaques in the baby section were driven over sometime between 3:30pm on Friday and 6:45am Monday.

A 41-year-old Bentley Park man was arrested at Port Douglas earlier today and has been charged with one count each of wilful damage and driving whilst disqualified.

He is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 18.

Officer in Charge of Edmonton Police Station, Senior Sergeant Jason Smith has thanked the community for their assistance in this matter.
