Wilful damage charges, Oxenford

Police have charged a 31-year-old man after an alleged wilful damage incident in Oxenford in this morning, January 19.

Emergency services were called to the Maudsland Road property just after 1.30am following reports a man was making threats and had poured petrol throughout a house.

Upon arrival, police made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to the smell of fumes.

A 31-year-old Oxenford man was taken into police custody at the scene a short time later, and the PSPA declaration was revoked at approximately 1.50am.

Three people, who were inside the property at the time, were not physically injured.

The 31-year-old has been charged with one count each of wilful damage and threatening violence.

He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today, January 19.

Investigations are continuing.
