A section of Wilson Park in South Fremantle will be opened this weekend, to allow for overflow parking during the summer school holidays.
The reserve will be open to vehicles on Saturdays and Sundays until 8pm, commencing Saturday 20 December 2025.
After the first three weekends the City will decide whether to open it on Fridays throughout January as well.
The set up of the temporary parking area will be the same as last year, delineated by bollards, fencing and entry/exit signage.
City of Fremantle CEO Glen Dougall said the overflow area was necessary during the peak summer period.
"We've been working with the local community to best accommodate the increase in people driving to South Beach in summer. Even with the new car bays, we know that when South Beach carpark gets full, the local streets get busy. Temporarily opening Wilson Park will help alleviate this.
"And don't forget, there's also more street parking further north, up Marine Terrace," Mr Dougall said.
A 4-hour parking limit will be in place for the Wilson Park overflow parking area. To avoid infringements, people should read the signs and activate their free parking session by either using the EasyPark app or the pay-by-play meters located in the main South Beach carpark.
Beachgoers are also being asked to consider using active transport methods like cycling or walking to get to South Beach this summer.
