The winning design of the Youth Postcard Project has been chosen and printed, ready to be delivered to hundreds of isolated members in our community.
Greater Geelong's Youth Council selected 14-year-old Laila Thompson's design for its inspiring message of hope and resilience.
Laila's winning design features a brightly coloured rosella flying high while carrying a symbolic message of hope. Accompanying the design on the opposite side is Laila's touching message: 'The birds of hope are everywhere, just listen to them sing'.
This postcard will be delivered to recipients of the City's Meals on Wheels program and Barwon Health palliative care patients over the next two weeks.
Meals on Wheels participants are members of the community in need of assistance, including those who are elderly or with a lived experience of disability.
The project is an initiative of the City's Youth Development Unit and was open to young people in Greater Geelong aged between 12 and 25 years old.
The City also thanks Barwon Health for its support of this initiative.
