WItness appeal following firearms incident in Melbourne's east

Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses following an incident in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs on Friday 4 May, Victoria Police say.

Investigators were called after a male allegedly produced a firearm and threatened the driver on a bus as it left a shopping centre on Canterbury Road, Forest Hill about 6.40pm.

A 39-year-old Bayswater man has been charged with assault and firearm offences.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today (6 May).

Police are keen to speak to anyone on the bus, or who may have witnessed the incident and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
