Witness appeal following pursuit in Melbourne's north

Greensborough Highway Patrol members are appealing for witnesses following a pursuit in Melbourne’s northern suburbs yesterday morning, Victoria Police say.

Investigators were called after an allegedly stolen maroon Subaru was seen driving erratically on Main Road about 7.40am.

One of the wheels on the car was worn down to the rim which was causing gouge marks on the road.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle on Heidelberg-Kinglake Road, Kinglake however the driver failed to stop.

A pursuit was initiated and the driver was arrested a short time later.

The driver, a 26-year-old Bayswater man, has been taken to hospital under police guard.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
