The new infrastructure will make charging easier, more accessible and convenient for drivers who don't have off-street parking, such as those who live in apartments and densely populated areas.
Drivers across Wollongong will benefit from 12 new EV chargers to power up their electric vehicles to be installed in Gwynneville, Wollongong and North Wollongong.
The chargers - ranging from 7 kilowatts to 22 kilowatts - will be installed on kerbsides or in public council car parks over the coming year.
The EV chargers funded under this grant are in addition to the one recently announced for Warrawong Plaza.
They are among 549 new chargers being installed under the NSW Government's EV Kerbside Charging Grants. The government is delivering $2.8 million worth of grants to five recipients which will contribute another $2.2 million in private investment. The recipients are Charge Post, Connected Kerb, EVX, Plus ES and Electrifying Asset Management.
