Tweed Shire Council

2026 Award judges announced

This year's guest judge is Professor Lisa Slade — curator, art historian and Hugh Ramsay Chair in Australian Art History at the University of Melbourne. A national advocate for art and artists, Professor Slade brings decades of experience as a curator, broadcaster, mentor and educator.

"Her passion, knowledge and ability to bring contemporary art and ideas into conversation make her an outstanding choice for the Wollumbin Art Award," Ms Hedgcock said.

Respected local Elder Aunty Joyce Summers will also return to the preselection panel.

This year's WYAA judge is Tricia Quantrill, a local secondary school visual arts educator and dedicated supporter of young artists in the region.

"Tricia is a passionate advocate for art education and we are so pleased to have her judge this year's Youth Award," Ms Hedgcock said.

Entries open 5 pm Monday 16 March and close 5 pm Monday 1 June 2026. Finalist works will be exhibited at Tweed Regional Gallery from 29 August to 15 November 2026, with award winners announced on 29 August.
