Woman charged after infant injured in Prairiewood

A woman will face court tomorrow after she allegedly assaulted an infant and threatened a woman at a home in Prairiewood, NSW Police say.

Police were called to a home on Clegg Place, about 8.35am today, following reports of an assault.

Police have been told a 27-year-old woman assaulted an infant with a small pole and threatened another female, aged in her 50s, at the home.

The younger woman was arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station where she was charged with stalk/intimidate with intent to cause fear, common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and armed with intent.

She was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.

The 11-month-old infant was taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital as a precaution.

A child at risk notification has been submitted to the Family and Community Services Department.

The incident is domestic-related.
