Woman Charged Following Pursuit in Chifley Police District

A woman will face court today following a pursuit in the Central Tablelands overnight.

About 11pm yesterday (Friday 6 September 2023), officers attached to Bathurst Highway Patrol Command were patrolling Kelso when they attempted to stop a ute on Illumba Way for a random breath test.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through to Norway, about 11km east of Oberon, where the vehicle came to a stop just after 12am today (Saturday 7 October 2023), at the end of Mount Norway Road, and a 31-year-old woman was arrested

Prescription medicine was seized when the woman was searched.

She was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with

  • Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously
  • Exceed speed more than 30 km/h
  • Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
  • Vehicle displaying misleading number-plate
  • Use unregistered registrable motor vehicle on road
  • Use uninsured motor vehicle on road
  • Drive/tow vehicle with unsecured load, and
  • Possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance.

The woman was refused bail to appear via AVL at Dubbo Local Court today (Saturday 7 October 2023).
