Woman Charged in Clarence Town Armed Robbery Probe

A woman will face court today charged as an investigation continues into the armed robbery of a hotel in the Hunter last month.

About 6am on Thursday 4 June 2026, emergency services were called to a hotel on Grey Street, Clarence Town, following reports of an armed robbery.

Officers attached to Port Stephens Hunter Police District attended and were told a 52-year-old man had allegedly been assaulted by two men, one armed with a baseball bat and one armed with a firearm.

The two men allegedly took cash and left the scene in the 52-year-old's vehicle.

The 52-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition for the treatment of head injuries.

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced by detectives under Strike Force Damina.

On Wednesday 1 July 2026, a 38-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to the incident. He remains before the courts.

About 11am yesterday (Wednesday 8 July 2026), a 43-year-old woman was arrested at Newcastle Police Station.

She was charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, and was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today (Thursday 9 July 2026).

Police will allege in court that the woman drove two people to and from Clarence Town where the alleged incident occurred.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
