Homicide Squad detectives have charged a woman for her alleged involvement in a fatal shooting in Sydney's west earlier this month.
About 3.15pm (Wednesday 2 September 2026), emergency services were called to a home on Bruce Street, Merrylands West, after reports of a shooting.
Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command responded and located a 40-year-old man, suffering a gunshot wound.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however, died at the scene.
Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries before the investigation was handed to the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad under Strike Force Haleno.
An 18-year-old man has been charged and remains before the courts.
Following further extensive inquiries, about 2.30pm yesterday (Friday 18 September 2026) strike force detectives executed a search warrant at a unit in Wollongong.
A 28-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station, where she was charged with accessory after the fact to murder, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity and fail to comply digital evidence access order direction.
Detectives will allege in court the woman conducted surveillance for the gunman, assisting with their escape.
She was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Local Court 3 today (Saturday 19 September 2026).
Investigations under Strike Force Haleno are ongoing.
