A 23-year-old woman has been detected driving almost 80km/h over the speed limit in Drung, near Horsham, this morning.
Officers on patrol spotted a Mercedes SUV being driven erratically eastbound along the Western Highway about 1am.
The officers intercepted the Melbourne-bound vehicle after registering an alleged speed of 178km/h in a 100km/h zone.
The South Australian woman's car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1580, and she is expected to be charged on summons with traffic offences.
This intercept forms part of Operation Scoreboard, a statewide road policing operation coinciding with the AFL Grand Final long weekend in Victoria.
Police will be highly visible and enforcing across the state's roads in an effort to drive down road trauma.
Operation Scoreboard runs from 12:01am Friday 25 September to 11:59pm on Monday 28 September 2026.
