Woman dies after single-vehicle Crash - Lenaghan

A driver has died following a crash on the M1 near Newcastle today.

About 10.35am today (Monday 27 March 2023), emergency services were called to the M1 Motorway, Lenaghan, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

At the scene, police from Newcastle City Police District were told a vehicle had rolled before hitting a tree.

The driver was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, she died at the scene.

The driver is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be a woman aged in her 20s.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

All lanes of the M1 have now reopened and traffic is flowing freely.
