Woman in critical condition after collision - Merrylands West

Two people have been seriously injured, one critical, after two cars collided in Sydney's west overnight.

About 10.30pm (Monday 7 September 2020), emergency services were called to the intersection of the Cumberland Highway and Bruce Street, Merrylands West, following reports of a collision between a Subaru wagon and Nissan Skyline.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the driver of the Subaru – a woman aged in her 20s – before she was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

A male passenger of the Nissan was trapped for one hour before being released by Fire and Rescue NSW. He was also taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.

The male driver of the Nissan suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Both men are believed to be aged in their 30s.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene that will be examined by the Crash Investigation Unit to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam vision to contact police.
