Woman injured in Launceston Robbery

Launceston Police are seeking help from the public to locate a man who assaulted a 19-year-old woman during a robbery at a Launceston juice bar on Sunday afternoon.

The woman was working at the Park Street business shortly before 4.30pm when a male entered the business and assaulted her before stealing a quantity of cash from the register as well as keys to a vehicle. He left the business and stole a car from outside.

The car was later recovered in a carpark near Plummer St, Mowbray. The woman was taken by ambulance to the Launceston Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The male was described as wearing a black cap, sunglasses, carrying a black backpack and wearing a grey top with two stripes on the sleeves over the top of another black top. He was wearing distinctive black shoes with bright orange stripes.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw a light blue Hyundai Getz being driven erratically between Park St and Mowbray on Sunday afternoon.
