Women are being invited to apply for a free, award-winning IT training course being run here at Durham.

Its focus is on women and non-binary North and North East residents who are interested in a career in tech but have faced barriers to education and the workplace.

Sign up now for the new 12-week TechUPWomen Click Start programme, which launches on Saturday 22 April and involves a combination of weekly live online learning, independent study and in-person events here at Durham University.

It provides a foundation in IT skills, IT support skills and specialist career taster sessions as well as tutoring in areas such as public speaking, communication and team-working.

This makes the course ideal for those who may have missed out on higher or further education or are looking to take their first steps into a tech career via an apprenticeship or entry level role.

The course is being provided by TechUPWomen, delivered in partnership with Catch22, and is part of the wider Click Start programme, developed by the Institute of Coding (IoC) and funded by Nominet.

Since its launch in 2019 TechUPWomen has proven a huge success.

In 2020 it won a Digital Agenda Impact Award and a Dynamo Award and was also shortlisted for the Northern Power Women Awards, among others.
