A hardworking Woonona man kept his cool at work all day despite sitting on the thrilling news that he'd scored $1 million in the Weekday Windfall game.
The Wollongong resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4588, drawn Wednesday 20 August 2025. He can look forward to a clean $1 million.
The winner shared he'd made the discovery before his work shift yesterday morning but was unable to receive the confirmation phone call from us until after work.
"Any time's a good time to receive this call!" he laughed.
"I checked my emails before work, and I was gobsmacked. I told my wife straight away, but she didn't believe me.
"I couldn't ring you back until after my shift, so I'm very glad to be finished now.
"It's awesome. I've been pretty numb all day.
"We've played these same numbers for about 20 years and the ones that won were a few birthdays and the day we met!"
When asked how he planned to use his newfound treasure, the doting dad had a few ideas in mind.
"It's going to help a lot. We can pay off the mortgage and we'll put something away for the kids and give them a bit of a head start," he said.
"We can go on a holiday too, and the wife wants a makeover.
"Thank you so much. We couldn't be more excited."
His winning marked 14-game entry was purchased from East Woonona Newsagency, 30 Park Street, Woonona East.
East Woonona Newsagency owner Paul Schmidt said the team were thrilled to sell their fourth division one winning entry.
"When I first heard the news, I had to remember if I had a ticket in the draw. After that, we were excited for the customer and their win," he said.
"This is our fourth division one winning entry we've sold in our 18 years of ownership, so we'll be telling all our customers the good news and decorating the store.
"As a lottery agent, selling a winning ticket is the best feeling you can get.
"A massive congratulations to the winner, spend it well and enjoy your lucky moment!"
